So what exactly is Frugal? According to Merriam-Webster it is characterized by or reflecting economy in the use of resources. So what ways am I frugal?
We made a decision this past Christmas never again are we spending so much! So we started to think of ideas of what we could do for gifts next year that weren’t going to bend our budget. We thought about the things that are important in life. This is when we had a wonderful idea. Next year, we are going to give what we already have. It may sound a little “Cheap” but it is very “Rich” in thought.
Here is the plan! Almost every single week we are either doing a Lowe’s Build and Grow Workshop or Home Depot’s Kids Workshop! So, guess what the end products are? TWO works of art, that were built with love, nailed together with 2 and 4 yr old hands, colored with markers, and are all over my house. We decided we would come home with our finished products and choose a family member to gift it to this Christmas! The kids enjoy this! We talk about what the person could do with it and where they would put it.
It is not a “Cheap” gift but one “Rich” in thought! True gifts do not have to come from your bank account but from you heart! I want to teach my children to be frugal and thoughtful!
Some of the greatest gifts I have received were used. The beautiful Tea Cups left to me by my Great-Aunts and one of the greatest people I have ever met, Toni, are more meaningful then anything gift money could buy!
