Stockpiling Saturday – How does multi-tasking save me money?

Today for Stockpiling Saturday I am talking about how does multi-tasking save me money?  Over the years, I have learned to multi-task and I have become an expert at it!  I do not waste time and in turn it saves me money! When I go to the grocery I strategically  plan out my trips.    I always plan what I need and where I am going.  When the circulars come out I start making list based on what stores are having sales that week.  I then look at my week and determine what my plans are each day.  On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I drive my son to school so these are the days I stop at Meijer, Walgreens, or  Kroger on my way home.

I also volunteer some at my oldest son’s school so there is a totally different Walgreens and Kroger nearby.  I base my shopping on what is close to where I need to be.  Usually it is within 2-3 miles of my given destination.  Every Sunday is my sweep day.  “Sweep Day” is a day I will drive to the farthest point I have to shop and shop everywhere I need to on the way home.  I often pack a cooler to store the items that may need to stay cool or pick them up at one of the last locations.  This is an awesome stockpile day for me also.  Since a lot of the stores are limiting coupons it is necessary for me to stop at different stores.  I am very fortunate because I have 9 Krogers , 1 Meijer, 2 Walmarts, 2 CVS, 4 Walgreens (that I visit), 1 Target, and 1 Remke bigg’s all within 15 miles.

Another time saving strategy is to map out your stores.  Get to know them.  When you are at the store, ask Customer Service if they have a map of their store.  If they don’t then map it out yourself.  After you map out your store always make your grocery list out according to how each store is laid out.  This will save you a lot of time because you will not be jumping all over the list.  It also saves time when you forget about something on the list and you spend 10 minutes back tracking to find it.  I know because I have done this!!!

The biggest tip I can give you is plan your trips out and use your multi-tasking skills to save your self time and money!  I remember when I waited tables in college.  I learned if I treated all my tables like one big table I did not forget anything.  I ran the tables they did not run me!!!  That is the same way I feel about couponing.  I run it and I don’t let it run me.  If I spent time running back and forth to different stores everyday I would not save time or money.  Gas is expensive and I am a busy business running stay at home Mom!

I would love to hear your tips and tricks!  Please feel free to comment!  Have a wonderful New Years and may you save save save!
