I wanted to share with you a great tip for how to cook “baked” potatoes. Instead of heating up your house this summer try a crock pot instead. This is also a great way to prepare baked potatoes on a weeknight too! Love this one! I made them and you could not tell they were not baked.

Crock Pot Baked Potatoes
Recipe type: Side Dish
Prep time:
Cook time:
Total time:
Serves: 8
Ingredients
- Potatoes
- Foil
- Crock Pot
- Salt
Instructions
- Wash your potatoes well and let them dry.
- Coat the potatoes in course salt to help retain moisture.
- Wrap each potato in a piece of foil. You do not need to prick them.
- Place wrapped potatoes in your crock pot. You can place 10 medium sized potatoes in a 4 quart crock pot.
- Cook on low for 8 hours.
- Another option: You can cook without foil – prick the potatoes and rub with olive oil. Or add a couple of balls of crushed up aluminum foil to the crock pot mixed in with the potatoes.
Notes
You can also put potatoes in crock pot over night and then slice for home fries the next morning or make them into potato salad.

i’ve done this before and they are great!! i’m wondering if you can do sweet potatoes the same way… has anyone tried that? how long? same prep(minus the salt!)?
A reader on facebook says she does sweet potatoes
I am going to try that next. I am assuming less time?
We like to do foil packs in the oven and on grill- diced potatoes, bacon pieces, garlic salt and butter. Wonder if they would work in the crock pot?
Oh yes it will – http://www.stockpilingmoms.com/2012/03/pinterest-pin-of-the-day-crockpot-bacon-cheese-potatoes/
