Continuing with our how to freezer cook series. You should be sure that your freezer and refrigerator are set at the correct temperatures.
Your refrigerator should be at 40 degrees and your freezer at 0 degrees.
A great tip is to keep a small bag of ice cubes in a plastic freezer bag in your freezer. This way if there is a power outage you will know that the temperature was above 32 degrees F. The ice cubes will have melted and will no longer in their original shape.
You don’t want your hard work of freezer cooking (or your stockpile) to be damaged but eating something that is not safe is even worse. Another tip is that your freezer actually runs best and most efficiently when it is full – consider freezing a jug of water to keep it running at its best.
