Crockpot Ham, Green Beans and Potatoes is a great one pot dish. It is a complete meal by itself. It is easy to prepare in the slow cooker and best of all you can use leftover holiday ham with this recipe too! I like to serve it with sliced tomatoes fresh from the garden, fresh sliced onion and corn bread.
This is an easy dump and go crockpot recipe. Simply add all of your ingredients to the slow cooker and cover. Cook on low for 6-8 hours and when you come home the aroma will be amazing. This is a recipe that screams southern living to me. It is my comfort food because it reminds me of my Granny. She used to cook this several times in the summer. I have found memories of breaking beans with her. She would either make them in the slow cooker or the pressure cooker. I find this recipe to be so easy and safe to make too. There is nothing better than good country cooking.
When preparing this as a freezer meal simply combine all ingredients into a freezer safe bag except for water. Freeze. When ready to cook thaw in the refrigerator. Dump into the slow cooker and add 1/2 cup water. Cook for 6 hours on low.
Tip – Potatoes don’t always freeze the best. You can choose to add them fresh when cooking or you can freeze. Best results are to not use “wet” potatoes. If you wash be sure to dry thoroughly with paper towels before you freeze. I do find that red potatoes freeze a little better than Idaho potatoes do.

Ham, Green Beans and Potatoes
- 3 lb ham, cut into 1 inch pieces or cubed
- 1 lb fresh green beans, tips cut off
- 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 cup water
- Place all ingredients in crockpot.
- Cook on low for 6-8 hours.
