What is gluten intolerance? Gluten intolerance is a reaction to the proteins glutelin and gliadin which are found in wheat, secalin which is found in rye and hordein which is found in barley. Diet, lifestyle, and genetics are a few factors that will determine how severe of intolerance a person has to gluten. The American diet has come to rely on gluten not only as an important “nutritional factor”, but also as a way of getting a desired texture and softness of certain foods. In recent years studies have shown that our bodies may not tolerate or digest gluten as well as everyone had always assumed. As the intolerance for gluten gets worse the body will start to show symptoms. There have been over 250 documented symptoms, and a few of the most common are arthritis, bone density loss, fatigue, headaches and migraines, joint pain, osteoporosis, and a tingling or sensation of swelling your toes and fingers.
These are all problems that chiropractors see on a daily basis. Chiropractic can often help alleviate these symptoms but if the cause is not found the problems will keep coming back. Dr. Robison attended Wilmington College, in Wilmington Ohio. At Wilmington College, she studied athletic training and would later graduate Summa Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Science degree. She then attended Logan College of Chiropractic where she earned her Doctorate of Chiropractic (DC) degree. While at Logan Dr. Robison took a special interest in the realms of nutrition, pregnancy and pediatric care. She obtained advanced training in Nutrition and also completed all the coursework to obtain her diploma in chiropractic care for the pediatric population from the Academy Council of Chiropractic Pediatrics.
