How to Keep Bananas Fresh Longer

How to keep bananas fresh longer with this simple tip!

How to Keep Bananas Fresh Longer?  Who knew that putting saran wrap on a banana stem would help keep them fresher??? This is a great tip to save you money as it will extend the life of the banana.

How to Keep Bananas Fresh Longer:

I saw this on Pinterest and wanted to give it a try. I was a little skeptical but thought if it works then it would great. I don’t know about you but my bananas always start to ripen very fast and then before you know it I am making banana bread or banana pudding so they don’t go to waste.

So for this tip all you have to do is wrap a piece of saran wrap around the stem of the bananas. Just remove the saran wrap when you want to get a banana off and replace it back. This did work for me and my bananas lasted longer than they normally do. I have been putting it on them ever since. Hope it works for you!

I have been leaving mine in the plastic bags, and I noticed they take longer to get spots. I started it because of fruit flies.

You can also cut the bananas apart cutting them about one half to three quarters of an inch from the top of the banana. This makes them last a lot longer. They may start to get a little dark, but the fruit will still be firm.

Green Bags – I have tried these. The bananas seem to “last” longer. Weird thing is that they don’t turn brown as quick but the inside keeps getting sweeter like if you just left the banana out. Another thing to remember is the green bag is keeping a lot of air from getting to the bananas – in turn – there isn’t any escaping so gasses from the nanners get trapped and the bag becomes humid and does have condensation on the inside. After a few rounds of closed only bags I found that if I just opened teh bag and let them breathe for a little bit each day the bags still did the work. As well, I also tried the hanging on a banana tree thing and then clothes pinned the bag closed onto the hook, leaving a TINY opening to air. This worked best. However, I wouldn’t say (for bananas at least) that the green bags work wonders. Other foods yes, but bananas No.

You are dispose to leave the green badges loose.that is what the directings tell you just lightly fold over.
