Dr. Oz Teeth Whitener

DrOzTeethWhitener

I found this Dr. Oz Teeth Whitener recipe and decided to give it a try. It says to take 1/4 cup of baking soda and mix it with the juice of 1/2 lemon and then apply it to your teeth with a q-tip. Leave on your teeth for 1 minute then brush. This amount was more than enough for both my husband and I to use. In the future I would actually reduce it to 2 TBSP baking soda with enough juice to make it a consistency to apply.

You will keep the whitener on your teeth for 1 full minute and then brush. I did notice an immediate difference. If you are a coffee or tea drinker it will take several applications before you notice a difference. You shouldn’t do this method too often as it may irritate your gums because of the acid in the lemon . If it does irritate then you should try 1 day on and 1 day off or even every 3 days. I love that this is a non toxic teeth whitener.

Of course using 1 time a month to maintain is a good idea.

so it is safe it wont take the enamel off your teeth

    • I heard about this years ago so I asked my dentist. She was extremely against it! She told me that the very high levels of acid in the lemon will erode the enamel.

I asked my Dentist and he said it is FINE in moderation.

    • Melissa- I think I would find another Dentist, he might be the only dentist that would say that to a patient. I have been a dental professional for over 30 years and I would never recommend this to my patients.

That’s like saying people shouldn’t eat or cook with lemons, or use baking soda in anything. It’s about moderation and probably how long it’s just sitting on the teeth I think. Dentists want to see people still coming to them for cleanings…it’s a way to earn money.
