What is a coupon train?
A Coupon Train consists of a conductor and up to 10 passengers. The conductor will start the train with 50 coupons that have an expiration date of at least a month or more and mails the train to the first passenger on the list. The passenger’s take out which coupons are useful and any expired coupons and replaces with new coupons. For example: if you take out 4 coupons, you must replace 4 coupons (and be sure to remove expired coupons).
Here is a quick list of guidelines for riding the coupon train.
Remember the most important part is to have FUN and be FAIR!
The conductor will start the train with 50 coupons that do not expire for at least 1 month and send to the first person on the list. You can add some that expire within 2 weeks as long as there are 50 that expire a month or more away. You can add doubles if they are over the 50. I do not recommend over 60 coupons as that will increase the cost of mailing the train. People will not participate if it costs too much to mail.
When you receive the train, take out as many coupons as you can use as well as any expired coupons.
Replace the coupons that you took out with new coupons (that DO NOT expire within a month) and send to the next passenger on the train. There needs to be at least 50 coupons that do not expire within a month.
Trains should be back on track in 3 days or less! After you put your train back in the mail please visit

and make a comment under your Train #. Comment that the train is on track, when you received it and when it got back in the mail. This is very important. Communication is the key to keeping these trains running. If you can’t post to the train thread contact your conductor they can help you with it or post for you. Lack of communication will result in removal from the train. This goes for emails and train thread posts.
The train threads are already made for you. You might have to search for your thread. Please do not make new ones. Duplicate train threads lead to confusion.
Eligible coupons include any of the following types of coupons only….manufacture or store coupons, coupons from the newspaper, tearpads, blinkies, or rebates. INTERNET PRINTED COUPONS OR PEELIES ARE NOT ALLOWED AND COULD LEAD TO THE TRAINS BEING STOPPED!
Feel free to add your wish list of coupons to your passenger list, post them under your train thread or email your list to your conductor.
The return address will always be your conductor’s address in case the train would get lost or derailed.
When the train makes it’s complete run and arrives back at your conductors station. The conductor will send an email asking who wants to take the ride again.
This can be a great way to get additional coupons from other regions to where you live and share coupons for products you don’t use in exchange for coupons that you can use. Of course if you don’t follow the rules then you won’t be allowed to participate. It can be a lot of fun though for those who want to get aboard!
