Red Apple Lipstick®, touts themselves as “America’s number one selling brand of safe lipstick.” Their website proudly states that all of their products are certified gluten free, paraben free, soy free, dairy free and allergen free. In addition, their lipsticks are also vegan, natural and cruelty free. They offer lipsticks, lip glosses, lip pencils, lip balms, lip exfoliators, and even eye shadows. The company is now 5 years old and selling a lot of lipstick. Red Apple Lipstick is available for purchase through their website. They offer coupons, special deals, and free samples with every order.
If you must avoid gluten in your food, then you really must avoid gluten in your cosmetics – especially in any product that touches your lips. Since a lot of your lipstick actually ends up ingested, by getting on a glass or on food you eat, it’s critical to be vigilant about choosing gluten-free products. Remember, the current estimate for Celiac Disease is that 1 in 133 people in the United States have it! (And, 60% of those folks don’t know they have it.)
I reviewed two shades of the Red Apple Lipsticks: Strawberry Lips and Plum Sexy Crazy. At first, I wasn’t too fond of the scent of the lipstick – to me, it smells a bit like a warm crayon. But, I noticed that the scent did fade after a few minutes. I wore these lipsticks every day for about a week to see what I really thought about them. I was impressed with the “lasting ability” of this lipstick; that is, it stayed on for many hours. It is a bit drier, not a creamy-style lipstick, which probably helps it to last longer. And, just as they say on their website, it’s easy to put a lipgloss on top of it to make the color seem shinier. I did like this lipstick and I would purchase some for myself.
