7 Tips For Sticking To Your New Years Diet

Every year millions of people make health related New Years resolutions.  Whether it is a diet or new fitness routine, these resolutions can be tough to manage.  Here are 7 Tips For Sticking To Your New Years Diet that we know will work for you.  Not only are these tied and true methods we have used in the past, they are also recommended by many health care providers as well.

7 TIPS FOR STICKING TO YOUR NEW YEARS DIET

Seek Out Accountability: Finding other people who are working on their health will help you to stay on top of your progress.  Online groups, smart phone apps and in person accountability groups are all excellent choices.  Find a group that you can relate to and seek out friendships that will help you to remain on track.

Use Moderation In Food Choices: Don't eliminate all of your favorite foods.  Instead include them in small portions and account for them with your daily calorie allowances.  Smaller portions of the food you are craving will often satisfy you much better than a larger portion of a low fat or lower calorie version.

Create Quality Substitutes: Work on remaking your favorite recipes to be healthier.  Substitute healthier ingredients and play with recipes until you can find a way to make it as good as the original.  Check out our Clean Eating and Weight Watchers recipes for great options that have been proven delicious.

Don't Skip Meals: This is one of the biggest traps people fall into.  When you skip meals you are telling your body to conserve fat and energy just in case you don't eat again soon.  This actually slows down weight loss instead of increasing it.

Watch Liquid Calories:  Many people do excellent with their meals but they fall victim to the added calories of things like flavored coffees, soft drinks and juices.  Watch those liquid calories and eliminate as much as you can.  Use this Monthly Water Intake Journal to help you keep track of your water.

Journal Your Food Intake: We often don't realize that the little bites here and there can add up to a lot of extra calories each day.  Start making a note of everything you eat throughout the day so you can see where you are taking on extra calories that could be detrimental to your weigh loss.

Eat 5 Small Meals Instead Of 3 Large Meals: Smaller meals will help you to feel more satisfied throughout the day.  This helps you to refrain from over eating at meal time, and will keep the unhealthy snack at bay.

These tips for sticking to your New Year diet should help you to maintain weight loss and increased health. Weight loss and changing your health can be tough to do, but the results are worth every moment spent working for it.

Moderation helps me the most since It's hard to resist my favorite foods. If I want something like lasagna, for example, I'll have a smaller portion and fill the rest of my plate with veggies or a tossed salad.

I have been doing a 21 day fast, when you have no sugar, flour, bread, tortillas. Cutting out sweets hasn't been that hard. Cutting out tortillas is hardest. I like these tips!
