3/4 – 1 cup apple sauce (depends on if chunky or not – start with 3/4 and stir in more if needed)
1 cup cup ground cinnamon
Mix together applesauce and cinnamon, knead and then roll out with a rolling pin (it will form a dough). You can sprinkle with cinnamon when rolling out if too moist. Then cut into shapes with cookie cutters. Make a hole in the top of the ornament with a straw. Let ornaments dry. Add a ribbon after it dries and use it as an ornament or present tag. We like to keep them from year to year in a box layered between tissue paper.
You can place plastic wrap between the dough while forming a dough ball. This makes for less mess! Bake the ornaments on 200 degrees for 2 1/2 hours to harden the dough. This project also makes your house smell amazing! I love to make these before we have company. A built in air freshener that the kids have fun making! There is nothing not to love about this frugal Christmas project.
Give these Cinnamon Ornaments a try. You will be glad you did.
