I’m trying this tonight. Used 4 chicken breasts, one packet of Aldi brand ranch mix, around a third of the butter and substituted some olive oil in (probably not the same amount total but it’s what we had). Hoping it turns out! 🙂
Sounds like it will be delicious!
Can I use 1 can cream of chicken soup instead of butter?
Sure!
Hi I’ve. Started the crockpot chicken can’t wait to try it are you suppose to add water
You can add a little if you want.
I’m making for dinner tonight. It smells good in the house.
I’m adding mashed potatoes and a garden salad.
Can I cook on high for less time or will it dry it out too fast?
You can cook on high. No problem!
How long on high would you cook this?
3-4 hours.
If the chicken was still frozen and you put it on high how long should it cook for
Same length. No need for more time.
Good morning! Is this 4-6 breast halves… Like 2-3 pounds? I’m thinking of subbing boneless skinless thighs, and trying to make sure we have the right amount of meat. Thanks!!! Looks yummy!
Yes, but you can use whatever amount that would feed your family size. Skinless Boneless Chicken Thighs work great for this recipe!
I followed the recipe but the chicken turned out to dry..
Did you cook it on low temperature?
For me, I never cook chicken breasts longer than 5 hours on low. Any recipe is dry if you go longer. I am excited to try this recipe but I will limit to 5 hours on low.
You will love it!
Hi! I forgot to take my chicken from the freezer last night. Can I do this when frozen chicken breasts?
I have with no problem 🙂
Did everything come out alright with the frozen chicken? I forgot to take my chicken out last night so I was wondering if I have to cook it longer or just the 8 hours?
No need to cook longer!
I can’t tell you how many people I have given this recipe because it is so extremely easy and delicious! My husband and kids are very picky and they all love this meal. I usually serve it with roasted red potatoes and a vegetable.
Has anyone tried making this in an instant pot? I’d want to know if I need to add any liquid?
I have and cooked semi frozen breasts for 30 minutes. It turned out wonderful. No liquid just melted a little butter on the bottom before throwing the breasts in.
Can you cook this recipe in 5 hours on high
I would do 3-4 on high.
The picture looks like it got brown on top (I’m guessing from the butter?) My family doesn’t like “mushy” chicken from crockpot, but the looks a little “Crisp” ??
It is not mushy but you can always broil it for 5 minutes in the oven once you are done too.
Your recipe sounds wonderful and I can’t wait to try it! I do have one question, however, that I need for clarification. You refer to a “slow cooker” and also a “crockpot”. Are these not two different kitchen appliances? And if so, is there any variation on time and/or ingredient amount adjustments that need to be made. I, personally, own a crockpot and want to make sure I get this right! Thank you so much!
They are the same. A crockpot is a brand name of slow cookers 🙂 Great question!
Has anyone cooked this in pressure cooker. If so how long did you cook it for?
I used chicken thighs and coated them in some ranch seasoning mix and seared them in a cast iron before. Turned out amazing!!
If I wanted to make this with only two frozen chicken breasts, do I need to cut down on the ranch seasoning or butter? Or change the cook time at all?
I plan on making it this weekend for only my daughter and I while my significant other is deer hunting since he doesn’t like ranch. (Blasphemous, I know!)
I would use 1/2 the packet 🙂 Enjoy!
I used two very large frozen chicken breasts, about 3/4 of the ranch packet, and the entire stick of butter on high for four hours and it turned out great! So delicious! Thank you!
I’m trying this tonight!
Loved this recipe! I’ve shared with many ppl but I’m cooking it in the Instant pot tonight! Have you tired this and found the right amount of time to cook?
We haven’t tried it in the Instant Pot. If you figure it out please let us know so we can share.
I’m trying it now…will pass along the results. I’m doing 2# chicken
Could I add some vegetables, like broccoli?
I wouldn’t add broccoli until the end or it will become mush. Brussels Sprouts and Corn on the Cob might hold up better.
I’m trying this tonight for my family. I was thinking of adding onions and maybe cheese? What do you think?
Think it would be delicious!
