How to dye hair with Kool Aid
Want to know, how to dye hair with Kool-Aid? My niece was here for two weeks visiting which provides me with my "girly fix".  I love, love, love having her every summer and this summer when she asked if we could dye her hair with Kool-Aid, I thought, hmmm, why not!  I did text her mom to get permission on this one first 🙂 She said yes, so it was go time!  We did a little research, collected our supplies and got busy.  I am pretty sure my husband thought we had lost our mind.

How to dye hair with Kool-Aid:

Step 1:  Boil 2 cups of water and combine with 2 packets of Kool-Aid (do not add sugar). Stir together.

Step 2:  Allow to cool for 10 minutes before using.

Step 3:  Section off hair into a pony tail.

Step 4 Dip Pony Tail into Kool-Aid

Step 4:  Dip ponytail into Kool-Aid for 20 minutes.  If you have brunette hair you may want to do for longer (we did 40 minutes).

Step 5 Dry with paper towels

Step 5:  Dry with paper towels.

Step 6:  Allow to air dry or blow dry with a hair dryer (we chose to blow dry).

That is, it!  Next, we repeated the same technique with the upper layer of hair with red Kool-Aid.  If we had it to over again and if you want the color show bright on a brunette head of hair, then use red Kool-Aid.   Be sure to condition your hair well as the Kool-Aid did dry the ends.

The blue color lasted less than a week in her hair and the red lasted almost three before it faded.  If you have blonde hair this technique works better in terms of the color taking and lasting longer.

It was an affordable and fun activity for my niece and it wasn't permanent so perfect for summer!  Last summer we did a DIY Pedicure night.  It is always so much fun to have her here!
