    Slow Cooker Black Eyed Peas are perfect for New Year's Eve!

    Slow Cooker Black Eyed Peas are perfect for New Years Day! We love this easy and delicious recipe!  It is a great way to start your New Year filled with lucky and this yummy recipe.

    It is easy to prepare.  Start by sorting through the black eyed peas and beans and get any dirt or stones out. For a quick soak pour peas into boiling water and boil for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and let sit for 1 hour. After the hour discard water and pour peas into the slow cooker. Add your ham and salt and pepper to taste. Pour enough water over peas to cover. Cook for 6-8 hours on LOW. Stir in corn the last 20 minutes till heated Add onion and cilantro before serving.  Trust us, after you serve this yummy slow cooker version of this recipe you will never go back to the stove top version.

    I like to serve Slow Cooker Black Eyed Peas with Sugar Cornbread.  This is a good luck food for the New Year.

    Slow Cooker Black Eyed Peas

    Ingredients

    • Used 6-quart slow cooker
    • ½ Pound Dry Black Eyed Peas
    • ½ Pound Kidney Beans
    • ½ Pound Northern Beans
    • 1 ½ - 2 Cups Fully Cooked Chopped Ham
    • Salt and Pepper to taste
    • 1 can corn
    • ½ cup chopped cilantro
    • ½ cup onion

    Instructions

    • Sort through black eyed peas and beans and get any dirt or stones out.
