Top Summer Travel Tips for Weight Loss. Summer travel is in full swing, and everyone who has been dedicated to a healthy lifestyle is likely looking for ways to maintain that weight loss on the road.  Since staying healthy is our goal, we've come up with some super easy tips to help you stay in shape and make healthy choices no matter where your summer travel takes you and your family.

Top Summer Travel Tips For Weight Loss

Top Summer Travel Tips for Weight Loss:

Pack your own snacks. I can't begin to tell you how important this is.  Whether you are headed to a local amusement park, taking a road trip, going to the movies, or even headed across country on an airplane you need healthy snacks on hand.  One of the biggest struggles is avoiding those candy and chip purchases when you stop for gas on a road trip, or the nachos and funnel cakes in a theme park.  Instead of falling victim to the obvious food traps, go prepared.

If you are worried about not being able to take snacks into locations, simply check in advance.  If you have dietary restrictions, most will allow you to bring your own snack.  If not, many have other alternate and healthier options you can have that won't go over your food allowance for the day.

    Great snacks for summer travel:

    • Turkey Jerky
    • Nuts or homemade trail mix in portion sizes
    • Fresh fruit like berries, grapes, apples, and bananas
    • Dried fruits in portion sizes
    • Unsweetened tea
    • Pretzels, Baked Chips, or Pita Chips
    • Bottled water - or bring your own water bottle to fill once you are inside

Stay in places with fitness centers.  When you are booking a hotel, take the time to see if they have a fitness center or pool on-site. This means you don't have to stop your workout routine just because you are traveling.  Pools make it easy to exercise while watching the kids and having family time.  A fitness center will likely have a few options that give you both cardio and strength training options.

Check out menus online in advance.  This is a huge benefit when you are eating out a lot during your summer travel.  Restaurants, fast food chains, and events you are attending will all have menu options available online.  This gives you time to check out the healthier options available and to make a plan for your day while on the road.

Pack meal replacement options.  While meal replacement shakes and bars are something you don't want to use regularly, they are ideal for travel.  When fast food is the only option, you can grab a side salad and a meal shake or bar to fuel your body and stay on track with your weight goals.

Don't fret over summer travel.  These tips for how to manage travel and to lose weight are ideal for keeping you on track no matter where you visit this summer.
