What is retail therapy?
According to Wikipedia, Retail therapy is shopping with the primary purpose of improving the buyer’s mood or disposition. Often seen in people during periods of depression or transition, it is normally a short-lived habit. Items purchased during periods of retail therapy are sometimes referred to as “comfort buys”.
I personally think that Retail Therapy works wonders. There are times when I am down and going shopping really gives me a boost! It always helps my mood. I really love to match a coupon to a good sale and that actually makes my retail therapy last longer 🙂
Two years ago I went to Dillard’s for some retail therapy in January. I picked up several pairs of Ugg’s for less than half price! Now every time I wear them it reminds me of my day of Retail Therapy and they bring a huge smile to my face. Knowing I didn’t pay full price really sweetened the therapy for me. It really isn’t as short lived 😉
