Gluten-Free, Casein-Free Applesauce Chicken

This is a real "kid-pleaser" recipe.

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breast halves
  • 1/2 yellow onion chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups applesauce
  • 1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes optional


  1. Use a 4-quart slow cooker.
  2. Put the chicken pieces into slow cooker first. Add the onion.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the applesauce, vinegar, garlic, and spices together.
  4. Pour sauce on top of chicken.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 5-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
  6. Serve with rice or quinoa (pictured).
