It doesn't get more Southern than Chocolate Gravy for breakfast! Yes, really it is a thing.

Chocolate Gravy is a very Southern recipe passed to me from my Mother-in-Law. She made this for my husband growing up for a special treat. It is similar to the consistency of pudding and served over biscuits. It is one of my husbands favorites to this day.  I suggest everyone enjoys it at least once in their lives. Once you give it a try you will either fall madly in love or it won't be your thing. If you don't love it we would be surprised.

This is so funny, I was just thinking of Chocolate gravy last night. I remember a friend of mine, when I was a teen making this. (Along time ago lol) I was wishing I had a recipe. And here today you posted your recipe. Can't wait to try it.
      Thanks a bunch!

I made some this morning but I have a different reciep. 1 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons of flour, 3 tablespoons of cocoa. Mix together then add 1 1/2 cup of milk bring to a boil on med heat. Then add 2 teaspoons of butter when it thicken. Stir constanly or it will burn to the pot.

Mine is also a little different. No vanilla and most of the time we use water and not milk. Love chocolate GRAVY!

I just now made this chocolate gravy. It is, indeed, delicious, however, I would make two changes. I would like for it to be a little more chocolatey - just a little. I would also prefer a little less sugar. So, the next time I make it, I likely will add 1 to 2 add'l teaspoons of cocoa and maybe 1 cup sugar + 2 tablespoons sugar -- I'll have to experiment - just saying for now... We eat it over ice cream -- so less sugar, of course! Love this stuff.. I can just eat it with a spoon --
