How To Create Meaningful Thanksgiving Traditions

Do you know How To Create Thanksgiving Traditions?  Creating Meaningful Thanksgiving Traditions are so important to me.  I love Thanksgiving.  There is nothing better than gathering for a meal together to enjoy each others company.  Of course I am also always very excited about Black Friday and the sales ads that are associated with after Thanksgiving sales but that comes later 🙂 First, we spend the day together and then we find the deals.

    Creating Meaningful Thanksgiving Traditions

I try to incorporate meaningful Thanksgiving Traditions as a part of the Holiday.  Each year we make place cards as a craft project for the guests.  It has been a tradition that I did as a child and now one that I pass onto my son and nephew.  It is an inexpensive project that keeps them busy and allows the children to have some "ownership" in the meal.  The children create the place cards with hand drawn pictures of pumpkins, cornucopia, leaves, Pilgrims and Indians.

In fact after my Great Aunt Ida passed I found some of the place cards in her things that I had made.  It was such a meaningful item to find that she treasured the place card that I drew for her that she kept.  Now, I have the place card that says "Aunt Ida" and it is a memory that I will treasure forever.  I find myself keeping place cards that read Mom or Aunt Melissa myself.  Creating a Thanksgiving Tradition can be so simple.  It is just something that you start and continue year after year.  It becomes something that your family looks forward too and becomes a memory that you make that will last a lifetime.

Other ideas are to create a Thankful Tree with cut out leaves where each guest can write what they are thankful for and hang on the branches.  Another idea is to provide paper for each guest to trace their hand and cut out and write what they are thankful for.  You could ask your guests to share with each other before your meal.  Another idea is to create a Blessings Jar - provide a jar for each guest to write what they are thankful for and place inside.  The ideas are endless.  I simply urge you to create a Thanksgiving Tradition that you can share with your family this season!

If you have a Thanksgiving Tradition please share it with us!
