How To Prepare For Winter Illness - Create a Sick Basket!

How To Prepare for Winter Illness - Create a Sick Basket! Winter will soon be here and the best way to stay ahead of winter illness is to prepare a sick basket. I have been creating a sick basket since Peyton was little.

In early November I head out to the store and stockpile on supplies that I may need during an illness.  I am sure to be prepared in case an emergency strike.  I guess preparing in advance goes back to my days as a girl scout.  It is always better to be prepared.  I can't tell you how many times having a sick basket prepared has saved us.

How To Prepare for Winter Illness - Create a Sick Basket!

Purchase an inexpensive basket at the dollar store and then fill it with medicines that your children would need during an illness.  Think cold, flu, stomach virus, fever and sore throat.

    Items to include:

    • Thermometer
    • Band-Aids
    • Tissues
    • Cough Medicine
    • Cough Drops
    • Motrin/Tylenol
    • Nasal Saline
    • Gatorade
    • Chicken Soup
    • Pedialyte

Hopefully you won't have to use the sick basket but in case you do you will have everything located in one place.  It is a huge time saver because if your kids (or husband) is like mine they always get sick in the middle of the night or on the weekend.  By preparing in advance you won't have to suffer through a long night or head out to the 24 hour store in the middle of the night.

Do you have any additional items you would add?
