You have a bunch of potato recipes you put in the freezer. Do you not cook your potatoes? Everything I've read says you should. Do you have any tips? How long did you leave it in the freezer if you didn't cook them prior? I just want them to turn out and not be yuck.

Sweet potatoes are no problem to freeze. If you want to freeze other potatoes I suggest that you use red potatoes and not Idaho.

Could the pork chops be swapped for chicken breasts? Would it take the same amount of time to cook?

So no juice or water needs to be added to the crock pot to keep it from burning? I'm new to using a crock pot for meals like this I usually make roast and soups in mine so I didn't know you could cook would adding a bunch of water or broth

None necessary. If you want to add 1/2 cup you can.

I'm new to this whole wife and cooking scene.. ? I've never heard of "balsamic vinegar" could I substitute with white vinegar or Apple cider vinegar? Or might one of the compromise the taste too much?

You say dump in crock pot, well do you layer the pork chops with the apples and sweet potatoes or what, how do you put in the crock pot?

If you prepare it as a freezer meal you dump it. If you prepare it fresh you can just place all the items in the slow cooker as you wish. I always place pork chops then sweet potatoes and then apples.

Do you cut up the pork chops too? Or just the apples & sweet potatoes?? I'm looking to use this recipe for a meal swap and don't want to mess it up! Ha!

Or freeze the pork chops while i a separate bag & other ingredients in a separate bag?? Thanks!

You do not cut up the pork chops. Just the apples and sweet potatoes. Freeze altogether. 🙂

No, the more the better I always say 🙂 If it is too sweet you can add a little acidity.

Like with most of your other recipes, I found that eight hours of cooking time was way too long -- I cooked this about four hours only. The pork was wonderful, but everything else had broken down into mush. I would definitely make this again, but would add the potatoes and apples a few hours in.

About 30 minutes before I ascertained this would be done, I added some sage dumplings, which perfectly complemented the sweet meat. Next time, I'll add a little extra liquid to compensate for the dumplings as everything ended up a little dry (not the recipe's fault, obviously!).

Like with the peach ginger chicken,,I usually hate eating the same thing many times in a row and I still got through all of this over the course of a week without being sick of it!

the flavour is really nice on this. I've been reheating my leftovers in a frying pan and that extra little caramelization on the sweet potatoes adds a little something- highly recommend. Overall this isn't my favourite recipe of the bunch so far but its definitely not my least favourite either. It's a solid, average, weeknight dinner.

Has anyone had an issue with the apples? When I thawed out the bag the apples were mushy and brown so I couldn't use them and threw them away. I used 3 granny Smith apples.

Since when you cook this in the slow cooker it won't matter if the apples were mushy and brown 🙂
