Christmas can be a scary time for those with Celiac Disease. It can be risky to dine out and potlucks are my worst nightmare.  I was diagnosed in September 2011 with Celiac Disease but didn't quite come to terms with it until I had a very painful Thanksgiving 2011 as a result of eating gluten while dining out.

Since 2011 we have planned 100% gluten free feasts for all of our holidays!  I am not upset on what I am "missing" instead I am actually excited about our Gluten Free Meals at the holidays with my family. I wanted to share with you my Gluten Free Christmas Menu and recipes as well as a few tips to help you with planning.

    Gluten Free Christmas Menu

If you are dining out please be very careful with marinades, sauces, gravies and seasonings.  The safest bet is to dine "in" and help prepare the Christmas Meal so you are sure to be able to enjoy your holiday. If you are eating a Pot-Luck I suggest bringing several dishes or collaborating with family members so that you will have several dishes to enjoy. In my opinion it is easier and safer to cook.  I am lucky that my Mom and brother are also gluten free so it makes easier in terms of serving for the family.

It is very important to read the labels and be sure that your family members understand the importance too. Often times family members will think a "little gluten" won't hurt you however we know a little gluten can ruin your holiday.
