We are home from an amazing Spring Break at Universal Studios! When I asked my teens where they wanted to go for spring break they both suggested to see Harry Potter. I was personally not a huge Harry Potter fanatic but hey, my aim is to please so I started researching a trip to Universal.
As you know I am gluten free. Whenever I visit someplace that is new I start by researching things that I will be able to eat while we are on the trip. I was pleasantly surprised that there was many places that I would be able to enjoy! I created this list of the best gluten free foods at Universal Studios Orlando to help others.
The Best Gluten Free Food at Universal Studios Orlando:
Jimmy Buffet Margarittaville – Hands down my favorite! If you have never eaten at one then you are missing out! The Cheeseburgers are served on a gluten free bun (and it is delicious) AND they have gluten free fries (dedicated fryer). I tried the grilled blackened grouper sandwich and it was amazing! To top of that you HAVE to order the gluten free dessert! It is a Gluten Free Brownie Sundae with warm gluten free brownies with Heath Bar crusted vanilla bean ice cream, Macadamia nuts, whipped cream, and chocolate sauce. It is HUGE and delicious! Another one of my favorites is the Volcano Nachos. They are big enough to share with the table or split and eat with someone else as your entree.
Three Broomsticks – I enjoyed a delicious lunch at the Island of Adventures. This Gluten Free Turkey Leg and Roasted Potatoes with butterbeer was seriously delicious! I did have to sub the regular potatoes for these but they were oh so yummy! There were several other choices but you can’t go to the amusement park without a roasted turkey leg!
Butterbeer Ice Cream – Really does it get any better than butterbeer ice cream? I say not! I enjoyed this sweet treat from Florean Fortescue at Universal Studios. It was delicious and so refreshing on a hot summer day! I highly recommend it!
Candy Shop – I mean does it get better than candy? We think not when it comes to Harry Potter. I was elated to find this complete list of Universal Studios Islands of Adventure Honeydukes Candy Allergen List. There were so many delicious options to choose from!
Butterbeer – My first question was – Is butterbeer gluten free? I mean you can’t go to Universal Studios and not try the butter beer! Luckily it IS gluten free! We tried both the regular and frozen varieties. I liked the regular and my son liked the frozen best. I think you either love it or you don’t. For me it was really sweet but I had to give it a try! It just isn’t Harry Potter World without it.
Krusty Burger – If you are looking for a quick service option at Universal Studios this is it! I had a great tasting burger with tater tots and a BUZZ cola. All of which were gluten free! This quick service is located conveniently near the Simpsons Ride.
We also had the opportunity to visit with my friend Amanda and her kids while we were at Universal. She is a Universal expert! Where I am a Disney one. I turned to her for so many tips and suggestions! Be sure to check out her travel tips.
