Cumberland Falls and is known as the Niagara of the South. It is one of the most impressive waterfalls in the South, and is definitely one to see.  It is located in Corbin, KY.

Cumberland Falls the Niagara of the South

Cumberland Falls is the only place in the Western Hemisphere where you can see a moonbow. The moonbow is only visible on clear nights with a full moon. An arch of white light is usually produced at the base of the Falls and continue downstream. It is supposed to be breathtaking and it is on my bucket list!

Cumberland Falls is a very impressive and easily accessible waterfall. I love that you don't have to hike to see this waterfall. There are viewing areas at the top, base, and downstream from the falls.

There are also nice views of the falls available from Trail #9, which follows the western edge of the river gorge, and leads to Eagle Falls.  Located in Cumberland Falls State Park. The height is 60 feet and the crest is 125. You can hike to Eagle Falls which enters into the Cumberland River just downstream of Cumberland Falls. It is worth the experience if you have time and feel up to a 2.7 round trip hike.

They also have a gift shop and gem mining available near the falls. Be sure to visit the State Resort too.
