This 3 Ingredient Slow Cooker Apple Spice Cake is a delicious dessert crockpot recipe for Fall!  My whole family loved this easy treat. I was able to scoop it right out of the slow cooker into bowls and serve it after dinner.

3 Ingredient Slow Cooker Apple Spice Cake is the BEST crockpot dessert recipe for Fall!

The kids thought it tasted just like fried apples, but better.  They were really impressed.  That is why I love to use my slow cooker because everyone thinks I spent hours cooking when really I didn't.  I just let the crockpot do the work!

3 Ingredient Slow Cooker Apple Spice Cake is the BEST crockpot dessert recipe for Fall!

Lightly spray your slow cooker with non stick cooking spray.  Pour the apple pie filling into the bottom of your crockpot. Next sprinkle the cake mix all over the top of the apple filling.

Place butter on top.  Put the lid on and cook for 2 ½ hours on high. Scoop and serve warm.  You can also use a gluten free cake mix to make this into a gluten free recipe!  If you can find a spice cake mix you can sub with a yellow cake mix and additional spices (cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves).

I served the Apple Spice Cake with Whipped Cream, but next time I will serve it with some vanilla ice cream too. Be sure to try this scrumptious dessert soon, you will not be disappointed!  This would make a great dessert for Thanksgiving or any holiday.

3 Ingredient Slow Cooker Apple Spice Cake is the BEST crockpot dessert recipe for Fall!

I hope you enjoy this 3 Ingredient Slow Cooker Apple Spice Cake.  It is out of this word delicious and the perfect dessert for fall!  I am looking forward to serving it for Thanksgiving.  It is soon be become a family favorite once you give it a try.  Anytime I can make dessert in my crockpot I call that a mom win! 3 Ingredient Slow Cooker Apple Spice Cake is the BEST crockpot dessert recipe for Fall and it can even be made gluten free when you use a gluten free cake mix.

      Question:
Will this recipe work for any cake flavor? Will the number of ingredients change? Should I/we follow the box instructions?

I just tried this for the first time last night, it's only for 2 of us so I took a chance and halved the recipe. The spice cake I used was a 15. (Something) ounce box. Total measurement came out to just about 3 cups. So I did 1 can apple pie filling, scant 1 1\2 Cup spice cake mix, (put remaining 1 1/2 Cup in zip lock baggie for next time) and 1stick butter cut up and spread over the top. I thought 2 hours would be adequate since it was only half the recipe, but it did take the full 2 1/2 hours. I used a 4 quart oval Hamilton Beach crock pot.

This particular crock pot got it VERY done around 1 edge while there was still a slightly doughy spot on the other edge. I have several crock pots from several different manufacturers so I am going to start keeping a log of each one and how it does with different dishes...

It did come out VERY sweet. I do recommend vanilla ice cream with it.

The 2.5 size crockpot might have been better since you 1/2'd it.

None of mine have a vent hole but I would give it a try - from what I have read it says cookers with a vent hole have a tendency to overcook easier. Have you ever had that problem?

I baked this cake this past week, and it was great! My guests loved it. I think next time I bake it, I will cut up the butter sticks to make sure all the edges are covered. It was a cold day, so it was just perfect! I will certainly make it again! Thank you!

Hi! Love the simplicity of this recipe! I'm trying it tomorrow, but with fresh apples instead of canned- anything in particular I should do? Dice or slice? Mix with cinnamon or anything? Thanks! 🙂

I would go with sauteing them with some butter and cinnamon first to break them down a bit. Enjoy!

I only used one stick of butter and it turned out very good.
I was skeptical at first but it was delicious.
I bet you could use any combination of fruit and cake mix.

If using fresh apples that you have cooked how many cups would you use for the recipe? We are doing an apple unit at school and I want to cook this with my children.

If you double the recipe do you put a layer apples, cake mix, butter, than apple, cake mix and butter?

Should the crock pot be preheated before adding ingredients?

I am sure you can but not sure what the quality would be after frozen.
